Huntington National Bank Bilingual Collector in Akron, Ohio

The shift for this full time position is Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm. The position could also be part time. Those hours would be during the day shift up to 6:00pm.

The Customer Assistance Team at Huntington provides 'Simply the Best' customer service at all times. This is accomplished by partnering with our customers in an effort to understand their reasons for delinquency and provide them with the information they need to make informed decisions regarding their delinquent accounts.

This Customer Assistance Team member:

  • Communicates effectively in both Spanish and English

  • Interviews customers to determine the extent of their hardship and their ability to pay the account currently and in the foreseeable future

  • Counsels customers on available alternatives to eliminate the delinquency to include hardship, settlements and re-age programs.

  • Negotiates appropriate short term payment arrangements

  • Provides status updates to customers

  • Places outbound calls manually or on an automated dialer system, as well as receive inbound calls

  • Consistently meets established individual and departmental goals as it concerns quality and other service level metrics

  • Complies with all policies and procedures set forth by Huntington

  • Adheres to Federal Regulatory requirements regarding debt collections

  • Recommends action regarding repossessions and litigation

  • Arranges for appropriate Bank and/or legal action based on account analysis and as deemed by manager.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • 1 year of customer service in a high volume retail or call center environment required

  • Must be bilingual and speak both fluent English and Spanish.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must have a desire to educate and assist troubled customers

  • Must demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate over the phone in a professional and personable manner within time constraints

  • Ability to understand complex processes

  • Must be able to handle frequent change and adjust to an environment that is always evolving

  • Must be goal oriented and self-motivated

  • Must be comfortable using a computer and keyboard
