Community Development Lending and Investment Director

Job Description:

  • Serves as the principal business development officer for the HBI Community Development Corporation.

  • Develops, implements and manages the organization's strategy with respect to Community Development Lending and Investing in support of the Community Reinvestment Act.

  • Manages the development of new investment opportunities in the areas of housing and small business development to support HNB's CRA rating.

  • Possesses a thorough understanding of low-income housing tax credit financing, use of subordinated debt and other complex financing strategies.

  • Coordinates with various third-parties to assist in evaluating investment, legal and other risks.

  • Manages the securing of proper approvals for all transactions, and monitors credit integrity of the portfolio.

  • Manages the activities of multiple Community Development Asset Managers in a manner to assure compliance with federal and state banking regulations.

  • Adheres to bank policies and procedures and complies with legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Accountable for risk management, compliance and audit performance for area(s) of responsibility.

  • Establishes or works with management to develop effective controls and processes to ensure risks are measured, monitored and controlled and compliance requirements are adhered to on an on-going basis.

  • Ensures staff is properly trained, provided with appropriate resources and motivated to adhere to risk management principles.

  • Maintains current knowledge of risk-related changes that may impact assigned area(s) of responsibility.

  • Provides senior and executive management with periodic updates to ensure proper oversight.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 10+ years' experience in Community Development
