Huntington National Bank OS AIX Platform Engineer III in Columbus, Ohio

Brief Description:

OS AIX Platform Engineer 3 role focusing on fielding questions and engaging in architecture and incident solutions for all supported infrastructure servers. The role will require the ability to communicate appropriate technological details of the hypervisor, network and storage framework to all levels of project team, infrastructure and business areas including all levels of management as needed. Successful candidate will have the ability to deploy and troubleshoot a mix of infrastructure and application delivery tasks as assigned. Individual will partner with the development and Engineering teams in a distributed environment during operational phases of project lifecycle to support configuration, automation, and impact triage and incident resolution. This resource will have excellent communication, leadership, finance and documentation skills to drive operational efficiencies.

Detailed Description:

  • Participate in the maintain 24/7 mission critical AIX/Linux system in a multi-site hosting environment by rotating On-Call duties

  • Provide Level 3 support of AIX systems

  • Provide Level 3 engineering support and roadmap ownership for all enterprise hosting components and environment architectures

  • Provide solutions for performance tuning and configuring VIOS

  • Proactively manage system resources to meet service level agreements assuring optimal performance and availability additional capacity for peak periods and growth

  • Implement system enhancements (software and hardware updates that will improve performance and reliability of a system

  • Leads collaborative group efforts efficiently across distributed colleague environments

  • Document and implement system procedures, policies and events

  • Must have a strong technology background to understand change requests and impacts

  • Responds to service requests from individual colleagues, project managers and management

  • Performs all technical program tasks with minimal supervision

  • Assist in managing user accounts and data permissions

  • Participate in recovery testing of DR Plans

  • Understands and demonstrates Huntington's core values

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Min 7 years of IT experience which includes 5 years of experience managing IBM power systems (p6 & p7) servers with virtual LPARS utilizing an HMC, & redundant VIO Servers and AIX version 6 and above

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience with Red Hat Enterprise Level Linux administrator

  • Comprehensive knowledge of enterprise backup, replication and SAN technologies

  • Ability to conduct performance monitoring and analysis of server environments diagnosing and resolving complex problems involving servers, SAN and Networking

  • Creation shell scripts or programs to automate and/or simplify administrator procedures

  • Comprehensive understand of Puppet software

  • Comprehensive understand of IBM BigFix

  • Willingness to learn new software, hardware and technologies in Compute environment
